Traditional Wooden Decking

A lot of people prefer using natural wood because of its strength and durability. Wood requires very little maintenance or cleaning. It is recommended that you protect the deck from direct sunlight by building a shade over it. This will also protect the wood from moisture due to rain.

Millboard Composite Decking

A breakthrough in decking technology

Even the highest quality hardwood can warp, fade and quickly lose its original appeal over time. Millboard has been developed over many years to perfect an alternative that’s just as attractive as the real thing, but without the flaws of natural products.
Millboard is crafted using a composite, which means it won’t expand or contract like timber does. Made from Lastane® it’s designed to resist algae and prevent slipping, even it wet conditions.
The unique Lastane® layer resists scratches and stains and is designed to withstand demanding outdoor environments.
Millboard is wood-free and non-porous, which means high resistance to algae growth and excellent anti-slip properties.
The dual-tone Lastane surface is hand tinted using pigments designed to resist fading and sun damage.
The structured core is a blend of natural minerals bonded in a polymer resin with long fibre reinforcement for added strength and durability.
Millboard is solid, not hollow, meaning it’s strong and won’t warp or rot like wood.
The unique ‘cellular” internal structure reduces weight while maintaining strength.

Plas-Pro

Millboard’s Plas-Pro system has been designed for spaces exposed to damp, such as jetties, fishing platforms, pools, roof terraces and boardwalks.

Pedestals

Self-levelling pedestals are available with unique “self levelling” heads, which ensure faster and more stable installations allowing pipe work and services to be laid underneath.

Decking design ideas

Amazing ways to transform your garden

Add a pergola for shade

A pergola is ideal for protecting you from strong sunlight. You can also grow climbing plants to break up the structure. You can use bamboo matting for the roof and sides or leave the sides open and use lattice fence panels as a cost effective roof that diffuses the strongest of the suns rays.

Build a raised deck

If you have a raised area in your garden, then it can be the perfect place for a raised deck that will give a focal point for your garden. It’s best to add railings for safety. Decks are ideal for garden furniture, BBQs and entertaining.

Add colour to your decking

You can brighten up your decking with the use of plants. Don’t forget to choose the right pots to complement the style of your deck and garden.

Create your own look

It’s easy to theme your decking to suit your own style for example create a nautical feel by using storm lanterns, blue tones, anchors etc. Or you could create a great children’s area by using bright coloured furniture and large cushions.

Using your decking when it’s cooler

Adding a fire pit or a chimenea will allow you to use your decking when it’s cooler. Your decked area can be warm and cosy offering a great place for entertaining long into the evening. You will need to protect your decking by putting your firepit or chimenea on a paving slab.

Lighten up

If you are planning to use your decking in the evening then lighting is a must. The easiest way to do this is with eco-friendly solar lights which can be placed anywhere but candles and lanterns are good too. You can fit recessed lights into decking for a stylish effect.

Different ways you can use decking

Decking can be used to create paths or surround things such as water features and garden ornaments. Patterns and interesting shapes can be created to give a focal point to your garden. Decking can be an irregular shape to fit around flower beds or can be situated in a private space in your garden for quiet contemplation.
